maybe because you have kids you cried and i don't blame you. I am 24. So still kinda young and to be honest and not sound like a dick..i am immune to stuff like this for some reason. There are so many shootings these days. For me it started with the DC sniper..then so on and so on and so on. It' going to happen again and again...for me, I am just use to it i guess in this very sick world we live it
It wouldn't surprise me if this happened again in a month..it's a sick world
anyone see the movie no country for old men? "you can't stop what's coming"
I understand what you are saying and was much like that myself at your age. Having children and getting older changes EVERYTHING. You will never understand or be able to understand the love you have for a child until you have one of your own. It makes you understand how a person can act violently against another person who has harmed their child and the endless lengths you will take to protect your child. It can't be explained, only experienced.

When did we loose hope? Do you think our founding fathers didn't see evil? Like you I'm 22 even with everything I witnessed I still ain't immune. To this. Because that's giving up and accepting that the world is crap if a handfull of people started a country why we can't we help make it better?

I will try to say this as non condescending as I possibly can. It is not meant to be that way. At 24 you've only begun to find out who you really are, never mind lived life. As you grow older, most people develop a less ego centric view of the world and realize the impact of their (and others) actions on other human beings. You gain a greater capacity for sympathy and empathy. With every passing decade in your life things like this will likely effect you more intensely.
These are generalizations, and of course there are exceptions. I obviously don't know you personally and base these statements on your own in addition to what I and others I know have experienced and learned from.
Movie quotes aside, we can change anything we want (except mortality) assuming we are willing to put in the effort required. It is rarely a lack of ability, but instead a lack of will and motivation.
I wish you the best, Brady_to_Moss. The day will come when an event like this hits you (emotionally) and you may wish you were still too young to fully understand the implications.
I just found out this morning a musician friend Ive jammed with at Georgetown Saloon, Mark Barden, lost his youngest child, Daniel.
Prayers and peace...
I cannot imagine being in that situation. I wish your friend and all who lost someone yesterday as full a recovery as you can expect from such a tragedy.
There should be a moment of silence before each game for the not-to-much-older boys who are voluntarily giving their lives so we can watch football.
From what I read, there were several teachers who in the face of certain death gave themselves up distracting the sicko monster so that their young charges could live.
Think about it. That's the stuff that gets you the Medal of Honor in combat folks.

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.
This is known as "bad luck." RAH

You may think you are immune, but as time goes on, you will start to feel things emotionally. As others mentioned, you become more empathic. If you don't, then I worry for you. Why? Because our ability to be empathic and have feelings is what makes us human.
The reality is that the number of homicide deaths by guns has been going down each year since at least 2006. And, in all honesty, the media insists on agrandizing each event that happens now because they feel they have to to get viewers/readers. It's sickening.
