It is ironic that Florio, who was one of the worst bashers of the Patriots earlier on, has seen the light in how there is a real effort from ESPN and the NYT to bash the Patriots unjustly and try to manufacture controvesy to keep this thing going.

I think he see's that it is nothing, and the Pats were punished, but media hounds like Espn and NYT wont let it die... And now is starting to see there is a anti pats biased.

I'm happy that Florio called him out. He's a hypocrite and an ape.

On another note, it is HIGHLY entertaining reading Broncos fans comments. This is exactly why others opinions do not matter. These kind of fans are truly ignorant and biased and in complete denial.

There is a big problem with Florio's article. He says

Schlereth has, in fact, mentioned the Broncos from 1996-1998 and claimed that they didn't actually cheat on the salary cap. They just "didn't know they couldn't push so much money into the future." What Schlereth described was the Broncos cheating.

Wow, I bet Schlereth believes ignorance of the law allows you innocence as well.

I love the fact that Broncos fans buy the Broncos lines after they got caught that they didn't mean to cheat the cap, but they needed extra cash because they were building Investco field and the extra cap room was just an unexpected benefit (and they considered it no competitive advantage). Yet, they will not believe anything Belichick or the Patriots say in their defense.

Personally, I think Belichick was less than forthcoming with his interpretation of the rules, but I think he was truthful about the important parts like what he did and how he used it. I think the Broncos knew what they were doing and took advantage of it even if part of the reason they were doing it was to get extra cash.

Funny though, five years later Kraft financed his own stadium and spent three and a half times of his own personal money than Pat Bowlen did and he didn't need to restructure contracts (legally or illegally) to get it done. The league usually are quick to hand out large low interest loans to whoever builds a stadium. The Giants and Jets just got a $300 million loan from the NFL to build their stadium in December.
