I'm not a Bledsoe Krishna (whatever that is) and count myself among those who think that Drew just didn't have the fire or overall talent to win a championship, even though he was a very good QB.
However, not to pick a nit, but in the piece, BB actually said that Brady "had a better camp" than Drew not that he "beat him out." In his next sentence, BB then said that they still didn't think Brady "had the experience" to start. People will, of course, interpret that any way they want, but, if you just look at what he said, it does seem as though BB felt that Drew's experience gave him the edge over Brady at the time.
It was only a matter of time before Bledsoe would have been benched anyway. Mo Lewis just sped up the process. The Pats had lost 19 of the last 26 games Bledsoe started.

I agree and I also can't help but wonder (even though given what we know about BB you have to think this wasn't a factor) if that huge contract, face of the franchise thing had even a little bit to do with it as well.
In the end, it worked out better for BB and Tom that it happened how it did. Can you imagine if non-injured Bledsoe had been benched in favor of Brady before the start of the season? Brady would have been under a lot more pressure and the public outcry against BB would have been overwhelming the minute he made any mistakes at all.
Not that it would have bothered BB but the Cleveland days took a similar route and I think it is just so much better that it went down as it did.

Scouting and Personnel Dept's share part of the blame. " The Comeback Kid" played for one of the top teams in the country, had a 20-5 record as a starter and was a two time team captain. Senior year stats were 20/6 TD/INT with 63% completion. Wynn played at Southwest Texas State and had 13/12 TD/INT with 47% completion. No way should Wynn have been picked before Brady. Brady's Combine performance must have had something to do with it also.
The part with Wynn was fascinating. Probably my favorite part. Wasn't he the guy who basically was perfectly content to be on the bench and then got unexpectedly tossed into the starting lineup due to injury? And he was absolutely unprepared? What a contrast to Brady. I can't believe these scouts couldn't figure out just by talking to Brady that he had the desire to do whatever it took to be the best. What a slap in the face to draft guys like Wynn and Tee Martin over Brady. It shows that they thought Brady would never amount to anything. It was like he wasn't even there. I can't blame the guy for getting so emotional especially when they had lead him to believe he'd be a third rounder.

Didn't they say as much in Patriot Reign (that they had already had so much invested in QB, that they couldn't bring themselves to pull the trigger on Brady?). [Interesting fact: Scott Pioli has a picture of Dave Stachelski in his office as a reminder of how easily teams can @%@% up the draft.]

Basically, teams saw Brady's lack of "athleticism," and ignored everything else.
They made the same mistake in 2005 when they focused on Cassel's lack of playing time, and ignored everything else. [The only QB in that class that's clearly done more is Aaron Rodgers.]

I was already excited to go home and watch this at lunch time (and then watch it again with my boys after work), but after reading this thread I am counting down the minutes!
Also, I am hoping/praying Rex pipes up about this before the first Pats/Jets game and makes fun of Brady.

Not that I'm a fan of Rex, but I can't imagine him doing that, especially after all the blubbering he's done.

Little offtopic and just light humor.Clicked on your who is the GOAT sig and immediately thought that is child abuse. Kid is being taught BB/Tom Brady as gods but by the time he is old enough to understand football all he will have are some useless memories passed on from his parents and probably will be forced to watch some average team and have a lifelong wait for the next BB/TB. So cruel !

Nooooo, because BB and Tom are going to be here forever.
They're gods, so they have to!
