Default Who Is Our Best Offensive Lineman?

Dan Koppen, Logan Mankins, or Matt Light??

I personally think Mankins is our best O-Line. What a great year he had.

To be fair, of the three positions, the guard usually has the easiest job.

Not true. If you read a Belichick interview from a few months ago, he talks about how the guard must be the most versatile offensive lineman.

On one play he might take a huge nose tackle, another play he'll take a quick DE. Also, guards have to pull a lot and have speed, or sometimes get to the second level. It requires a lot of talent.

Mankins is our best, then Light, then Koppen.

Mankins is the best. Personally I think Light is overrated. We need a real left tackle and to move him over to right tackle.

Mankins was the first name that came to mind for me when I read the title of this thread. Here is how I rank them:
  1. Logan Mankins
  2. Dan Koppen
  3. Matt Light
  4. Stephen Neal
  5. Russ Hochstein
  6. Nick Kaczur
  7. Ryan O'Callaghan
  8. Billy Yates
  9. Wesley Britt

Belichick has also been of the philosophy that guards are the easiest offensive personnel to find, and should be paid the cheapest. Maybe versatility is more common to guards than specialty?

Irrespective of what Belichick and Scar ask the lineman to do, details no-one here is privy to, I am merely commenting in general on their situation. They are on the interior of the line, so their space responsibilities are reduced over those of tackles. They also do not need to make the line calls of the center.
