Even if that were true, and I'm not sure that it is, it's a poor rejoinder. Even if Wilson were better, that doesn't change the fact that Meriweather is indeed better than people here give him credit for. I'd say it's only slightly worse than demeaning Brandon by saying he doesn't measure up to one of the best to ever play the position.

Fact is, people on this board always need someone to gripe about. Now that Watson and Maroney are gone, and Sanders has proven himself better than the naysayers claimed, it's Meriweather's turn to be the black sheep of the board. BB obviously agrees, or else he wouldn't have him out there taking 80 percent of the defensive snaps.

Not to derail you dinks derailing of our thread..... But.......

Yah the fact that BB is never satisfied till the Lombardi is in his hands is a testament to how competitive he is. And how much his team is taking on his persona. I love hearing stuff like this. Because you always worry about a mental letdown with young teams.

And i know that this really isn't the same team that played the browns earlier. AND it's the playoffs so it's even less likely they underestimate anyone again. You still worry about it.

I love BB's never let up and always keep coaching no matter how good you think you are style of coaching but I wonder how he keeps it from becoming a negative thing for those young players though. I for one hate my boss sometimes and feel like nothing pleases him when I bust my ***** to outwork and outperform everyone in the office. Yet he still calls he into his office to point out all the little teeny things I could have done better. But then again I do realize that he is no BB and my office in not a football field.

You answered your own question: "I bust my ***** to outwork and outperform everyone in the office."

That's what Belichick wants.

And that's why he's the best.

Right now, everyone in the world right now is singing our praises. Even SI is trying to jinx us. We're no longer the underdog young team trying to find ways to win games. We're now Goliath, blowing out teams left and right.

He's the only guy left to try and keep this team humble, and he probably has to be overly brutal to try and compensate for the love-fest everywhere else.

There's a whole management concept/style of "continuous improvement" which BB embraces. It involves always looking at what you just did and the results and then finding even the tiniest ways to improve. It can be implemented by capable managers without denigrating the employees. Having model employee leaders like Brady who embrace the idea and are not threatened by constructive criticism can make the difference between a successful company culture or a disaster (q.v. the 2009 Patriot disfunctional vet culture)

And if you've seen tape of his interactions with players. You'll also see, that he relates to them as people too. Telling them stories and joking around occasionally. Making him much more of a father figure not a boss. Which are traits of true leaders. And it's showing with his team playing lights out behind a thoroughbred coach of such brilliance as Bill.

Jesus, can people go a friggin week without bashing Meriweather. Stupid hater crap. IF HE WAS THAT BAD OF A PLAYER, PERSON, OR TEAMMATE HE'D HAVE FOLLOWED DEADRICK TO THE SUSPENDED LIST. BILL BELICHICK OBVIOUSLY THINKS HE GIVES US THE BEST CHANCE TO WIN, WHICH IS WHY HE HAS SUCH A HIGH NUMBER OF SNAPS PLAYED. GET OVER YOURSELVES.

Anyways, I agree with everyone about SB42. He's still pissed about it. I imagine he's also none too thrilled about last years playoff blowout, and wants to ensure that debacle doesn't happen again.
