It really is awful. How many game threads have had to be closed?
If people take it upon themselves to wreck the board for actual fans, I'm in favor of something being done, as I've said.
I'm a free spirit. I belong to all the boards pretty much and I'm not in favor of censoring or favoring posters.
However, if we can't enjoy an undefeated team, the people who ruin the game threads or the whole board should be put on vacation. Period.
EDIT: The Planet has a wonderful solution to this problem. We should investigate a special place for those without impulse control.
Our A. A. could have it's own game thread where the inhabitants could curse and throw their baby food to their hearts delight.
Another thing we could do is have a minimum of posts before you can start your own thread as well as a mandatory waiting period / email verification before sign up. That way trolls can't sign up 20 minutes before the game and must provide their real email.

And not just this week either. The sensible people know who they are, screw apologizing to these simians.
You can't even read a game thread around here anymore.
Your post is quite understated, in my opinion.
I agree... I just didn't want any of the good guys taking offense

If you had a wonderful new house but found that the contents of your flushed toilet ran out to the driveway instead of the sewer, would you notice? Would you complain to the builder? Would you clasify yourself as a whiner? Or would you just savor the moment of your beautiful new house?
Now on the flip side, if the only complaint is that one part of one window trim didn't get painted and this spoiled the photo shoot, well, I have no sympathy for your complaints.
So some complaints, even complaints about a million dollar showcase home, can be legitimate, and some not. I'd say take each complaint on a case-by-case basis. It's a large forum, it's active, there are lots of differing points of view. The team is perceived to be perfect, and we know it's not. The coach constantly reminds us of that. Even the players remind us. They make mistakes. It would be ridiculous to ignore the mistakes, but I think the criticism needs to reflect the bigger picture too, an undefeated season, which is about as good as it gets.
Some fans may not realize that there is no such thing as perfection. They still may be waiting for it. This is a wakeup call to fans that expect actual perfection. We may see it here and there for a quarter, half or whole game. We may see it for back to back games even. But over a full season? That is impossible. It's not about talent or dedication. It's about humans needing to back off now and then and to pace themselves for the long run. You can't sprint every second that you're out there, and eventually, when you're not sprinting and the other guys are, they will beat you on that play.
To me that is natural though. To me the overall body of work remains unblemished.
That is part of it I'm sure - the price you pay for being a good guy too long in Ian's case. But the really sad irony is, even NEM isn't *****ing like that on his own site any more....
But he's been replaced here by a bunch of incredibly insecure kneejerk crybabies and a couple of real mindless haters like PF and wtf and the latest entrant to the game threads - the disgruntled sportsbettor who calls himself a fan but in his first post accuses them of throwing spreads to pad their income.
This place has clearly rapidly grown to probably the largest and most active site of it's kind on the internet, and I'm not naive enough to think that doesn't benefit Ian in some way. But a reluctance to police it - including not even articulating a code of conduct for the main board - to the point of creating seperate forums for political, religious, alternate sports and even troll discussions for the free speechers who couldn't stick to Patriots football talk here, has attracted and maintained a lunatic fringe, some of whom are really here more for those other forums than this. They just pop their ugly heads in here periodically to piss on the team and the fans who actually support them.
There is nothing wrong with removing bad apples so as they don't spoil your barrel and cause you to lose the best of the rest. It's good long term management of any venture.
Ah yes, the "I love free speech, as long as it's speech I agree with" type.
Why don't you homers simply create your own board, "homer central", where only mindless cheerleading, and illogical excuses are permitted? You wouldn't be missed so please, spare yourself from the "whiners" and quit the board immediately.
P.S.
I haven't yet decided whether it's more sad or more amusing that MoLewis actually is delusional enough to believe that Pats players have the time to waste to look at a fan messageboard and if that unlikely event occurs, that they are also insecure enough to take seriously, anything written on a messageboard. I've made up my mind, it's both sad and amusing but definitely far more amusing...
You create posts like this to make yourself feel better. That makes you the insecure one, buddy. And Ian has stated on several occasions, apparently before you unfortunately arrived via the political and religion forums that players and family members do lurk here - and he would know. We've had family members post here on a number of occasions, the last one that comes to mind being Vince Wilfork's missus.
What you need to do is grow up and get over yourself. The most mindless and illogical post on this board in the last year was your crack observation that Brady was slipping and Bulger would be a better choice.

That is a great idea. If you agree to be the first one who will never go there, it should quickly become the most popular Pats site on the net.
"Homer Central" Ian. I think we have a hit here!!!
you know...I was just thinking about it again and Mo Lewis DOES rock...maybe we can have a thread on entropy and how it affects a football team....the fluttering of the Lewis hit butterfly wings has created a tsunami lasting 6 years
