Hopefully, he will finally get his HOF due. He was the second best LB of the 80s. Unfortuately, his career was overshadowed nationally by Lawrence Taylor.
Good luck Tip!

That's quite a list, except for Green though I think that it's a pretty level playing field. I'm sure the Pats will put on the full court media press again this year like they did last year. Nothing like having the likes of Peter King and Ron Borges deciding your worthiness

Does Borges have a vote anymore. He had the Boston market vote and he isn't in the Boston market. Also, I don't think Peter King hates the Patriots. But I also think Dr. Z is Sports Illustrated's representative in the HOF voting.
They are limited to a max of 7 a minimum of 4 for election.
Well my guesses of who would likely get voted in front of Tippett: (5) (not my choices in front of him - but guys I think the voters would put in front of him)
Cris Carter, WR
Richard Dent, DE –
Darrell Green, CB –
Art Monk, WR –
Andre Reed, WR –
Less deserving but could bump him anyway: (3)
Paul Tagliabue, Commissioner –
Derrick Thomas, LB –
Lester Hayes, CB –
So it comes back to how much guys vote by name and publicity versus actual productivity, impact on the field, longevity. I think it is a toss-up for him to get recognized. that in itself is a crime. He should be a shoo-in.
Guys below him: (17)
Terrell Davis, RB –
Dermontti Dawson, C –
Fred Dean, DE –
Randy Gradishar, LB –
Kevin Greene, LB/DE –
Russ Grimm, G –
Ray Guy, P
Charles Haley, DE/LB –
Rickey Jackson, LB –
Joe Jacoby, T –
Cortez Kennedy, DT
Bob Kuechenberg, G –
Randall McDaniel, G –
Ken Stabler, QB
Steve Tasker, Special Teams/WR –
George Young, GM/Administrator
Gary Zimmerman, T
Andre Tippett wouldn't be in my HOF. But nor would alot of guys who are in there already. From this year's class, guys who would actually be in "my" HOF are Darrell Green, Cris Carter, Steve Tasker, and Ray Guy. Yes, the last two over guys like Monk, or Dent, or even Tippett... they were the best that ever played their positions.

Dr. Z is actually a representative for the Jets, where he used to be a beat writer. Peter King is an at-large selector. And, yes, Ron Borges is still the Patriots' representative to the selection committee.
The good news is that Ron Borges has always said that Andre Tippett was as good as Lawrence Taylor ever was. His actual statement was that, if Andre were a Giant and Lawrence were a Patriot, they would have swapped career statistics. Same player, different supporting cast is, I think, his point.
I was looking through the list of semi-finalists and I actually think this is a pretty good year to be Andre Tippett and a poor year to be Art Monk (again).

There are certainly some Hall of Fame haircuts in there, especially the Raiders. I felt like I was teleported into a Brady Bunch episode looking at Ray Guy and Kenny Stabler.
