Often we sign a couple of veterans between Game 1 and Game 2. This way we don't guarantee their salaries. I think we did for Murrell. There are 500 players or so to choose from who have been cut before Game One. Belichick usually finds one or two.
We now have a roster of 53 now including Ojinnaka, but not including Mankins.
Injury status always plays a part. For example, we could add a corner if Wheatley is not ready. It is a little early to have only three corners and special teamer at the corner position.

OFFENSE
There is always room for a backup offensive lineman. After all, we have Wendell, Ojinnaka, LeVoir and Maneri on the 53 man roster, and Ohrnberger on the Practice Squad. If Kaczur is ready to play, one of these could get cut. We have an extra offensive lineman on the 53 man roster at the moment. This situation is still in flux as it has been for a month. Even if we count on Kaczur and Wendell as our backups (reasonable if Kaczur is close to coming back), there is clearly room for upgrade at both of the last two roster spots.
We could also upgrade Green-Ellis if a useful player is out there.
DEFENSE
There is room for the upgrade of several Practice Squad eligible players.
First we have PFW's early UDFA favorites on the bottom of the roster: Love and Fletcher.
Then we have an injured Wheatley.
Deaderick is a developmental DE backup, but he beat out Lewis and is a pure 3-4 DE. For me, it seems that he is destined to stay.
Any of the above might be upgraded. Also, we might add an OLB to replace a 7th DL (who would hopefully moved to the Practice Squad)

I guess this is stating the obvious, but what happens (or when) with Kaczur and/or Mankins will trigger other moves. If or when either or both are available to play for the Pats, then BB could be inclined to keep fewer offensive linemen on the 53-man roster. If Mankins is traded there could be a player involved, not just a draft pick.

Mankins isn't part of the 53, while Kaczur is; trading Mankins for a player would require cutting someone to make room for that new player, while Kaczur returning to duty wouldn't require any changes (although it might trigger a cut).

First, Green-Ellis was the 2nd RB into the game on Sunday. He's not going anywhere.
Love is the NT backup. He's not going anywhere.
Fletcher is possible.
An O-Linemen would be the best option for me if Kaczur is going to be ready in the next 3 weeks.
I have to agree here totally...Green-Ellis is staying with this team...Love is the backup NT...UNLESS they decide to weaken that position with Brace/Pryor..or even Wright..Love stays on the 53....
I DO think roster moves are possible....Kaczur IR or maybe back....Maneri cut and PSquaded if they like what he has shown... Also with Wheatley's injury..THAT could force a move..if he's IRed... Fletcher is a possible cut to PSquad..Murrell returning at some point...
NOT sure where the upgrades are...a young team that is developing...I see injuries as the big factor on Roster moves..not really upgrading.

All due respect, I know you've never been a BJGE fan. However, if BJGE is getting carries in the first half of the season opener ( over Morris I believe ), and is playing on most of the special teams, it seems a reach to me that he is let go from the 53 man roster for an "upgrade".
