Default How important was that first round CB Pick now?

During the draft and after Belichick selected his 1st rounder, many of us were a little confused and upset over picking a CB as that pick.

Looking back now it makes us look a little foolish after questioning the pick as Devin now becomes possibly the most important rookie to ever start in his first season under the BB regime.

Without selecting McCourty can you imagine Willhite or Wheatley starting?

Sometimes you have to wonder if Belichick has ESP

Unless Devin has a horrid season,I think we should be glad he didn't select the player YOU wanted him to pick as the #1

I actually asked 'WHO?' when I first read it!

But when you actually think about it, it is a good draft pick

No kidding.

Worst case is that the team has a top-level talent out there who based on sheer athletic ability, has a chance to make plays as opposed to KNOWING w/ the W&W boys, there is NO chance of a play being made!

Wilhite could still be your #2 CB with mccourty at nickel i would much rather ease mccourty into the starting role.

I really dont wanna see mccourty looking around bewildered as wr's pick up 1st downs because he didnt know his assignment in our bend but don't break zone.

Actually I wanted the Pats to trade the pick to Oakland for Nnamdi Asomugha, I just never said anything about it until now. Yeah, that's it.........

That very well might happen. Especially since these days a nickel corner is as much a starter as anyone really.

Later injuries don't negate earlier analysis. Brady going down in week 1 (2008) doesn't mean that the Patriots shouldn't have been favorites to get back to the Super Bowl prior to the start of that season.

It will only be important if the kid performs on the field. If he sucks, then it would not be that important (for this year anyway)

Agree to an extent, but one could argue that since we always seem to have an injury or two to our CBs, the pick of McCourty was prudent in advance of this very situation.

Sometimes BB really does know more about his team than us fans...go figure.
