Default Jammal Brown

The awesome LT missed most of last season with hip problems and there are multiple rumors that the Saints are willing to part with Brown after he sign his tender including this article... New Orleans Saints offensive tackle Jammal Brown reacts to team's draft choice of USC OT Charles Brown | - NOLA.com

I think Matt Light is still capable of some decent games but his play has sharply dropped off over the years, maybe time to look around.

Is it time to give Light some very serious competition at LT?

I don't know what it would take to get this young 2 time pro bowler who is only 27 and in the league just 4 years, but Brown at the LT position would make me feel a lot more confident he can protect Brady much better than Light can at this stage in Matt's career.

I assume Vollmer will take over the RG/RT position, so Light could be the odd man out if the Pats would use a future draft pick or some sort of trade on this guy.

Anyone for Jammal Brown?

Unless Charles Brown is ready to step in immediately, the Saints are going to really struggle at LT - Jared Bushrod did an admireable job all last year, but nonetheless, he was lucky he had Jeremy Shockey(and the RBs) to help him out, as the Saints O is loaded. However - late in the year when Shockey and the RBs got hurt, Bushrod struggled(i.e. the Dallas game where he was forced to go 1-1 with Demarcus Ware).

Considering that the Saints need depth at OT, I wouldn't think J. Brown is going anywhere.

Rotoworld reports that several executives from other teams are convinced that Brown will not be a Saint by summer and could be traded shortly after his tender is signed....I think it will be interesting.

The Pats should look at this guy if they feel Light is replaceable there now.

I doubrt theyre bringing in a guy to play tackle when they have Vollmer up and coming. We could use anyone over Kazcur though on the right side.

The Saints have a preference for bulkier OL. If you check out their roster on NFL.com, they have two players listed below 315, the reserve Center and the rookie OT, whereas NE's two heaviest players are both 315 - Kaczur and Vollmer. If NO cuts Brown loose I'm sure NE will consider him, but even if he is healthy, teams like Buffalo or Chicago with more urgent OT needs are more likely to outbid NE.

Thats where Vollmer should go ..at RT

I know it probably will never happen but an OL of

Brown,Mankins,Koppen,Vollmer and Neal would be one of the most impressive lines in the NFL with only Koppen as the weak link and hoping Neal stays healthy.

Brady deserves a top notch line before he ages quickly with every sack or hurried pass he must endure.

Flozell Adams may go to either Buffalo or Chicago and that might take one of them out of the mix for Brown should he become available,I think Denver is hoping Clady will be ready by August.

I guess it will depend on which team has the better offer in trade or some type of compensation of draft picks to N.O. and who wants to pay Jammal what he thinks he is worth.

Vollmer is the LT of the future, and a servicable starting RT can be found in the middle rounds of the draft.

No disrespect to Brown, he is a stud LT, but if the Patriots are going to make that kind of investment in cash and picks, it won't be at such a position of strength.

We have bigger problems in the interior of the O line. Light is not a problem. People need to forget about the Suggs sack too. Look at Lights play over the season. He'll be fine, as will the other tackles.

Yes, exactly. We have Vollmer ready to take the torch at LT. I dont know why we're even talking about bringing some unknown commodity to consider protecting Brady's blindside. Because to THIS team and its players, Jamaal Brown is definitely an unknown. Neal at RG is the problem because he consistently misses so many games. Sure, when he's in there he's good. Problem is, he misses 4 or 5 games every year. He's mid 30s now with chronic shoulder issues. If we're looking for an answer somewhere, it needs to be there on the inside.
