Questions
1. why PATs are not using their CAP space.
2. why did they let Willie go.
3. why are they not spending on Adam.
Suppose this is Kraft's reaction to the CBA that he did not like.
Here is one event that could indicate this theroy is true.
It was the way they let Willie go.
Now they said it was to give him a head start in FA .... Bull.
They could have let him go in February if they were thinking that way.
The fact Willie's release happen within an hour or so of the signing of the
CBA, links the release to the CBA. IMO.
Then Willie said he didn't want to air out all that is going on there.
Hmmm ... Willie what is going on?
Suppose Kraft is trying to get back some of his Millions he felt the CBA
took away. That may go a long way to explaining why Bill is in Florida
having a grand time and Pioli is here looking at draft options.
Maybe we think they have 20M in CAP and the PATs really think they
have 10M.
OK I'll be first to say it most likely is not true ... but it could be a possibility.

Yeah, Kraft is going to submarine his franchise while pouting in the corner like a little school girl because he doesn't like the CBA.
And second off, Jonathan Kraft was the architect behind the deal and pushed it through in the last hours.
There goes your theory.
Noop.
Yes Jonathan was involved but it was a last resort effort. Doesn't mean
he was happy about it. It was a way to get something done against the alternative.
Kraft is not submarining his franchise. I'm sure BB has told him they can
still be competitive and find other low cost ways to filling the needs.

ya, BB is in Florida just sitting at the beach...are you serious? He is down there, just like he has been every year at this time to visit Florida, Forida St, and Miami talking to players and seeing what is out there. Willie was released because he was costing too much and would bring his price down. I am not mad at him. He was a team player for many years, got his rings and now just got a big pay day before he retires. Willie is not a Patriot because we did not want to pay him 12 mil. Thanks God that Kraft, BB, and Poli have a plan and stick to it instead of caving to public opinion.

I have to respectfully disagree with your assertion.
I thought it is an insult to Mr. Kraft to even suggest that he would purposely withhold money and hurt his beloved team.

1. The Pats (not Kraft) have had a FA plan every season. We don't know what it is, and it doesn't always work out the way they want (i.e. Derrick Mason last year - Monty Biesel, Chad Brown, Starks, etc.) but they have a plan.
The one thing that is certain about the Pats is that Kraft lets his football people do their jobs.
2. They "let" Wille go because they were not going to match a 3 year $12 million offer with half of that guaranteed. There's no need to read anything further into that.
3. Why they are not spending on Adam is a judgement call. Once they decided not to franchise him it was a given that he'd test the market and the Pats seemingly have already made an offer, and are just waiting to see what other teams do. No conspiracy here either - sorry.
4. Of course the CBA entered into the release of Willie... that and the fact that he was due a major bonus a few days after the start of the new contract year. Without a new CBA and the influx of money on the market Willie might be willing to renegotiate with the Pats. With the huge amount of new money from the CBA there's no way he doesn't want to test FA, and no way the Pats keep him on and pay him a big bonus. Hence, his release. NO ONE was surprised by that.

I really like your post. Among the most sensible and perceptive comments that have been made. Including what influence the CBA had.
