Default Bigger Loser: Peyton Manning or Bode Miller?

This guy deserves all the ridicule he's gonna get thrown his way when he comes home. Losing is no shame, but doing it while setting nightlife world records, bragging about hangover skiing and reaping millions in commercial dollars because of his "style over substance" dude-ishness drains away any sympathy I have for him.

.....but I'm glad he had an "awesome time".

Looooo-za.

bode's a loser, no question, but i really think he doesn't care. the guy definitely needs more socialization, but, y'know, he was practically raised by wolves.
peyton tops this list because a. he wants it so bad. b. with his stable (i guess) upbringing, he should better be able to put it in perspective, c.i dunno fer sure, but peyton seems to be a whiner, which i find less attractive than the fake "who cares" attitude from miller.

I don't know, Benito. At least Peyton cares.

Bode went to Turin on the taxpayers dime, made lotsa cash beforehand based on his "independent free-wheeling" personality, choked (or jaked it) then said he doesn't care, he had a fun time in the pubs.

It's almost like he stole the money from the idiot sponsors and is laughing his arse off while burning their cash.

This really isn't close: PM's the loser here---he's never won anything. Bode medals in salt lake, and took home the World Cup all around last year. Now i realize to the vast majority of the american public, the olympics are the ultimate skiing prize. however to people that ski, the world cup title is the "superbowl". he was the 1st american in 22 years to win it and the 2nd american in history to win it.

obviously what transpired in tiriino was not what we all hoped would happen. but there were a lot of people who were expected to medal who didn't. bode just happens to be the presses whipping boy for the olympics! Just becuase he didn't medal in tirino doesn't mean he deserves to be lumped in with lifelong losers like PM!

i'm pretty sure olympic athletes don't do anything on the taxpayers dime. in the us, olympic stuff is funded by corporate sponsosrs who want to be "the official fungus ointment of the us olympic team".
so the $$ doesn't come out oof our taxpayer pocket, it comes out of our fungus ointment pocket.
somebody please correct this for me if i'm wrong.
last olympics, one of the corporate sponsors was the effin us postal service. didn't go down too well wwith their union or the congress.

as for all the media exposure, that's the media's stupidity, not his press agent. i know nobody who gave a $h!t about bode miller on january 1, and nobody who will give a ***** about him on frebruary 28. it's his corporate sponsors who'll be left holding the bag.

besides, isn't "almost" stealing the money the american way? remember the pet rock? the macarena? paris hilton? shall i go on?

It's a 501(c)3 organization. The contributions to it are tax-deductible. Hence, the taxpayers of America are partially funding Bode's Gnarly Vacation.

For our further enjoyment, here is Tony Chamberlain's (his friend and former apologist) column in today's Globe:

http://www.boston.com/sports/article...rn_for_miller/

In a perfect world, Bode Miller repays the donors to the USOC who underwrote his vacation. It's not about winning or losing - - this guy didn't even try. He laughed at these suckers all the way to the pub.

Any corporation that pays him to endorse in the future is rewarding that. This, however, may actually occur. After all, in 21st century America, we have the E channel paying the Gotti offspring millions to be cultural icons, without giving a percentage to the murdered and robbed victims of the great man.

http://www.rutlandherald.com/apps/pb...33/1007/SPORTS

......and, perhaps, the column that best sums it up:

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/st...p-334708c.html

Perhaps the idiot sponsors who paid millions to this clown (and everyone knew he was a clown long before the Olympics) SHOULD lose their shirts on this (like Peter Angelos on Albert Belle, or Jeffrey Lurie on T.O.).

But the people of the USA shouldn't have to have someone of his ilk "represent" them on the world stage. The USOC should police its own better or risk a loss of its income stream.

If an Investment Advisor took clients money and trust and purposefully threw it away, he/she would be, rightfully, led away in handcuffs.

OUCH, that hurts! Always be careful who you are a a-hole to, because you never know.

After reading that article I would have to give the prize to Bode. Peyton may be a loser, but at least he is not an a-hole.

Angry Bode Rocks

I couldn't give a rat's ***** about a few olympic medals. How come everyone has their panties in a bunch for an event that nobody watches.

Bode has won at the highest levels. PM has NOT. Just because the media marketing machine has pimped him for the OG's, people who don't know anything about skiing now think he is a loser because he may have underperformed at the olympics.

Do your research people. Don't speak about someone you know little about. Read more than one paper or online source. This guy is a hero who grew up in NE.

My 2-cents.
