No he wasn't. For a good part of that game Vollmer was able to neutralize Freeney by himself.
okay, sorry.. Freeney was doubled for most of the night, unless Brady was only taking 2 step drops

I feel like BB disrespected HIS defense, more so than ours. Going for it on 4th down basically tells his guys "no, i dont trust you to stop peyton manning from driving 80 yards to score in 2 mins" .. which is understandable, but you gotta trust your guys.
it's not that he doesn't trust them. it's that they weren't playing well late in the 4th and felt that brady had a better chance of winning the game than his D. And he was right. All Faulk had to do was hold onto that ball tightly and it was game over.

"He’s the greatest quarterback to ever play the game. He goes from being a rookie that nobody is expecting anything from, to taking over with people saying he can’t do it, to winning three Super Bowls....It should already be obvious he’s the greatest quarterback to ever have played. "

Congrats to your team on the win, but with all due respect go back on watch the game again. Collingsworth even pointed it out several times to the point I thought he had a man-crush on Vollmer. Freeney had his lunch handed to him by a rookie, mano-a-mano, in that game. Freeney's little dance moves looked like he was more interested in dancing the way Vollmer was able to counter them.
I believe Mathis is under-rated when people evaluate the Colts D and give Freeney too much of the love.

No question that Kazur had a tough night. IMO Mathis is one of the best speed-rushers in the league. Not sure why the coaches didn't give him more help as Vollmer was doing pretty well vs Freeney.

Freeney was doubled all night, hence the reason Mathis had 2 sacks and 2 FF's
What game were you watching? Collinsworth practically proclaimed his love for Vollmer during that game and pointed out how well he was handling Freeny.

Agreed. He got some help with chipping, an occasional TE or another linemen.
No matter how you slice it, to hold a talent like Freeney to goose-eggs is a credit to the line and Vollmer in particular.

I just saw this title on the cover of the USA TODAY....
Robert Mathis feels that BB disrespected the Colts D by going for it on 4th down......wha?? Maybe its just me, but that sounds kind of stupid, especially considering they won.
I'd post a link, but i couldnt find it anywhere on their website. If someone sees the link, please post it
Yeah I saw the quotes, it did sound really, really stupid. I mean, seriously, are these guys really professional athletes? What they were saying was childish.

No and no. Freeney was doubled or chipped on a handful of plays. Were you not watching the game on TV? The camera kept going over to Vollmer and Freeney's area and they marveled at how Vollmer was doing against Freeney (which was keeping him off of Brady). Face it. Freeney lost his battle to a rookie (which, in retrospect, doesn't mean much considering the rookie's team lost the war).
EDIT: And Mathis got two sacks because Nick Kaczur sucked the big one, which isn't anything new.
