Yup. Also, when he made his SB pick, he picked NE over NYG. Woodson (who picked NYG over SD) called him a homer and he chuckled and agreed...but then Tedy said that he was basing that not on the offense, but rather the D, and expected Wilfork and Warren to really step it up.

Intersting. Very interesting. Or he's just feeding into my need to believe that BB has some defensive shock and awe up his sleeve that nobody suspects! Whichever! Something has to get me through until Monday night!

How many teams in the NFL have now attempted to make this transition since the Patriots won three SBs? 10?

Nose tackles, hybrid defensive ends/ OLBs, all of these players are now much more difficult to get at a good value.

Once again, the joke's on the rest of the league. While everyone rushes to play catch up, the Patriots will be switching to the same defense that these teams had two years ago, and they are now struggling with their transitions.

Probably be two months before the Jets attempt to switch back to the 4-3 because that's what Belichick's doing.

Kinda like they did in the later half of 2001 when Bruschi emerged as a pivital leader at MLB. Imagine that. That D was suffocating as I remember.






p.s. BB in his WEEi spot this week talked about that period (although not about his plans this year) and he says that the D that was used from game 10 on in 2001 was predicated on the play/skills of the MLB and Bruschi's emergence that year allowed them to go in that direction. He talked about it only being possible based on the leadership at that position.

btw, the way that BB has talked Mayo up this offseason, and the fact that he was named as D caption seems pretty significant and telling. What position does he play again?

Does anyone know if Pryor and Brace are better suited to the 4 - 3 than 3 - 4?

The only drawback to this for me is I have to get used to playing 4 - 3 in Madden haha.

Bruschi is a smaht dude...This De is going to be sick. Talent up and down the roster and people just want to point at what is gone but Wilfork, Warren, Mayo, Thomas, Bodden, Merriweather to anchor the De and guys like Green, wright, Guyton, Springs, Whilhite, Sanders to round it out and the rooks to back up and potentially step it up. looks good to me.

Furthermore, after watching the Steeler/Titan game last night, and seeing the middle/inside linebacker blitz the qb and getting the sack, I can just see Jerod making similar plays.
I have a feeling Mayo will be blitzing a lot this year.
Team sack leader in 09 unless AD starts in on a tear.
