Default I'm Excited

There was a good post here recently asking basically what we should expect from the Patriots defense.

What about the offense? I am as excited for a season as I have been ever. Really.

Remember that offense two years ago, and the records they set? Well, that offense had Moss and Welker in their "rookie" season in the offense so to speak. This will be their third year in that offense.

Tom Brady has more weapons than he did then, IMHO. They have Moss and Welker. They also have a better TE than any on that team in Baker. He will thrive in this offense, as we got a glimpse of in the preseason.

With Law Firm, Maroney, Fred Taylor, Morris, and Faulk their RB crew is DEEP!

Their OLIne should be better for two reasons. Kaczur totally committed himself to the team, and his workout warrior approach in the offseason, I think is huge. I expect drastic improvement from him, and that will help the whole line. Secondly, I, like many am expecting a stud in Vollmer.

While we can never be sure how a rookie will perform, we may be getting a Welker "light" in Edelman, and to think of what this could add to the offense is intriquing.

I may be alone on an island making this next big deal, but in the back of my mind, I'm even expecting a goal line addition by 6'2", 215 LB Sam Aiken, this year. He looked 6'5" in that last preseason game. We'll see what pans out there, but it's a stray thought.

Will this be a better offense than the one in 2007? Barring injury, I think it will be. Some will say that "defense wins games", and that may be true. But, think about this, if I'm right about this offense, an offense that is always on the field, means the defense won't be.

If you are the fan of an opposing team and are reading this, even you must wish you had the best QB in the NFL, with an improved offensive line, and weapons like Moss, Baker, Welker, Edelman, Galloway, Aiken, Faulk, Watson, Maroney, Taylor, Morris, Law Firm, etc. etc.

Am I overly excited, or do others feel the same way?

I second your enthusiasm Bostonian. The intangible this year is having Brady back after missing an entire season. He (and that offense) must be very eager to finish some business from February of 2008.

Go Pats!

Yes indeed! I definitely think there will be some motivation factoring into things this year.

Good post. It is refreshing change from recent flood of gloom and doom posts. While there may be uncertainties on defense, it is very certain our offense will kick some serious butt. My biggest hope is see the development of Brady to Galloway connection. I understand that they aren't on same page yet but I really believe they'll develop good chemistry soon, considering they been around the block for a while now.

Let's go Pats~!

While I think the offense will be awesome this year, hoping to exceed the 2007 production might be going overboard. Record setting seasons like that are rarely ( never? ) reproduced.

I know the offense will be good, I'm more excited to see how the defense will gel & come together. BB has totally revamped an aging D right before our eyes, if the 2008 draft class pans out & we draft well the next two years our team is going to be absolutely stacked with young talent.

I like your hope, because with everybody saying Galloway is still blazing fast, that could be something else. They have to single cover Galloway, with Moss outside. They can double up in the slot with Welker and and Welker "light". All kinds of possibilities. Alot to love here.

I also believe that this offense is at least as good as that in 2007. I believe that improvement at RB and at TE could be crucial.

The open question is whether the offense will put us so far ahead that the defense will looked as capable as they did in 2007.

Of course, the problem with such a strategy is that everything depends on the offense beating every playoff and Super Bowl defense. Of course, the strategy worked to give us the best regular season ever in 2007. Some would say that the strategy also gave us the likely one loss in the post season.
