I do not understand why anyone would be unhappy about Hobb's departure. His skills as a kick returner will be missed - but I suspect we'll survive without him. As a corner - I have always thought AT BEST, he was mediocre, AT WORST, awful. Just awful. See yah later. I never liked the dancing midget. Buh-bye.

Don't we have a thread on this topic? Look Hobbs was a serviceable NFL CB. But he'd get burned fairly often. I won't be missing seeing the highlights of those moments as the season progresses. The Pats got what they could, a coupe of 5ths, and freed up some cap space to make some moves down the road. Hobbs had become expendable, so it was a smart move to make. Besides Hobbs was not going to get PAID in New England. And listening to him talk he definitely wanted to get big $$, so why not dump him a year early and get what you can?

The question should have been if the pats can surviver without Vrabel?

Patriots Reign II should be interesting.

Given his age and performance last season, the answer would be yes.

I don't think many people are thinking we can't survive without Hobbs. I thought he got more flak than he deserved, but that doesn't mean that A) he was a real good corner or B) he a replaceable part.

Felger tends to take statements like, "I think Hobbs is a serviceable corner and gets too much blame for the poor secondary play," and reads it as, "Hobbs is a great corner who is indispensable to this team."

He's the classic extremist.

This is vastly overstated. He simply was not a #1 cornerback. He is an above average #2, and would likely be an excellent nickel DB.

"Trust ME"? Trust YOU Felger? Trust YOU? Or Trust BB.. the guy that traded him?

Look Hobbs is much better than most people give him credit for, and he will go on to have a pretty good career. But no one ever thought he was an untouchable.

One thing that's interesting (and I know the Eagles have a different defensive scheme, but still) is that the eagles now have both of our starting corners from 2007. Apparently they want to recreate the magic of our stifling secondary from those years :P
