Default With the signing of Bodden...

Wouldn't it make sense for BB to trade out of the first round? I could see him parlaying the 1st rounder into a 1st + more next year. I think it's time to conserve some cap space and this would go a long way to protecting the Patriots salary cap. I could see us taking a linebacker in the second round + some receivers or young defensive lineman, but right now we don't really need anything. The Patriots are all set for the next year imo.

I think BB wants to get a stud LB in the 1st round

I felt this way before the signing of Bodden. Unless a guy like Malcolm Jenkins falls to us at #23 there really isn't anyone with a true top 20 value IMO. So why not? We already have 3 picks in the 2nd. We can wait on the guys we like to fall to us at #34 assuming there isn't a consensus on who's the best OLB among guys like Cushing, Matthews, English and Barwin.

I have a sneaking feeling that pick is going to become Larry English. Anybody else thinking this or have I gone nuts?

No freaking way! The Pats need to stop with the trading draft picks for next year. They desperately need an OLB if they want the secondary to do their job effectively.

he's my binky at #23, but there is a big debate over where these guys rank. But if there's any uncertainty then I think it makes sense to wait and save the $ by drafting a guy of similar value at #34.

No I'm looking forward to getting some good valued (money wise) players on day 1, and I think the signing of Bodden dosen't change this. I really feel he's there to promote depth and competition, not AS major of a signing as some our implying--although I love it at the veteran minimum.

My guess is he will go for DL.

You know-- that's what it is. he's my binky. LOL Didn't realize it until you posted it, but that "feeling" is really just that I want him bad.

It'd be funny to hear that word used internally. An interview with Hoodie next year, "Well, he was my binky at 23." Hahaha

This has been a great offseason for our "D". Reminds me of the "O" moves we made 2 years ago.

If you told me 2 or 3 years ago we'd have Brady, Moss, Welker, Bodden, Springs, F Taylor, etc. Man oh man

I hope T.O. is getting his popcorn ready.

I honestly think if they come to an agreement with Taylor by then, its a possibility. Or I can also see him taking that pick plus another one and trading up for an impact player, like a Mayo, to complete our defense. IDK but I feel a WHOLE lot better now that we got bowden
