Default I guess in theory...the Super Bowl Loss curse is true?

Well, here we are, fresh off a season after a super loss, and we failed to make the playoffs. Even though I think a season at 11-5 is far from failure, and a bad season, we didn't make it to the show... and therefore, does that make the curse even more powerfull to the point we won 11 games and still didn't make it...

Sigh...there is no such thing as "curses" nor "karma". They are simply the creations of the simple minded in order to prescribe some higher explanation for every day happenings.

10 years ago we would've killed for an 11 win season, and now its a "curse". Please..

No curse, just a string of bad luck, and one blown game away. I'll take 11-5 without the MVP of the NFL any day of the week. The not making the playoffs curse to me entails that the loser completely falls apart the next year. We far from fell apart, if anything we defied falling apart and drove straight through every bit of adversity.

ya, think about the 1998 Super Bowl

The Broncos vs. the Falcons.

The next year the Broncos lost QB John Elway to retirement and the Falcons lost RB Jamal Anderson to injury, and they both fell flat on their faces.

The Patriots lost both their QB Tom Brady and RB Laurence Maroney and still had a successful 11-5 season. It took a freak playoff scenario to keep them from the postseason.

Yeah I like your thinking here. To say that this season was a failure like other teams who were "super bowl cursed" is not fair to the guys who worked their ass off to overcome the adversity of this season. IMO like last year though the end result was not what we were looking for these guys can hold their heads high knowing they did some special things, there are no losers in that locker room thus there is no one cursed by a "SB losers curse".

It's interesting. People will take a common saying or concept and apply a much different meaning than the original intent of that concept/saying. People often use the saying "Divide and Conquer" to mean you separate your own forces and conquer, when ironically, it means the exact opposite. Karma is another great example.

The meaning of the curse presented in this thread is a perfect example. The idea of the curse refers to a "hangover" effect of winning a Superbowl that translates into decreased performance, not a plague of injuries.

Unfortunately our dilemma will only fuel the "curse" talk - no team had gone 11-5 and out in the 12-team format. Typically SB losers just had a crappy year due to injuries (which is where most thought we were headed). Maybe with a tougher schedule that could of been the case.

You could say the same about all religion. Yet roughly 90-95% of the worlds population would disagree with you.

As for you statement that "10 years ago we would've kill for an 11 win season" its BS and makes me wonder just how long you've been following the Pats. Since Parcells came on in 1993, the Pats have had 3 losing seasons.

People who claim things like curses and karma are for the simple-minded are really the ones who are simple-minded. Because it is their refusal to believe that there could be things more powerful than we can understand at work in the universe.

The reality is that this is the 2nd time in 7 years that the Patriots have been on the short end of the stick since the league changed the rules regarding tie-breaks back after the 2001 season.

Just a point of clarification. The Curse doesn't refer to the hangover affect of winning the SB. The "curse" refers to the series of instances in which the team that has lost the SB has followed the next season up with a truly horrible one, leaving the team looking as if they hadn't belonged in the SB to begin with.
