Default Silver lining--What if Brett had been a Patriot?

Favre - #1 in interceptions, #1 in playoff interceptions, and #1 in playoff losses in NFL history. We might have had experimented with Favre after Brady was injured, had the Jets not picked him up a few weeks earlier. Developing Matt Cassell was a success, instead.

Belichick respects Favre's place in history. His on-field performance does not add the veteran presence Belichick has characteristically looked for in free agents.

No way his name would be on the radar, even if he was available when Brady went down. Belichick wasn't looking for a QB to replace Cassel, and Belichick would not look for a QB who shows the random/improvisation skills that do not lend themselves to planning like Favre exhibits.
