2009 free agents that could rock the Flying Elvis?
I know we talked a lot about the draft and what we'd do with our picks. I don't remember a recent thread solely on who me snag in FA and maybe it's too early, but I looked up a list and thought I'd see what you guys thought about who's out there.
Not sure how up to date it is, but the two names that jumped out at me were TJ Whosyourmama, RB Brandon Jacobs, SS Kerry Rhodes, and CB Nnamdi Asomugha.
The two of those that could most re-energize this team, IMO, would be TJ and Nnamdi.
TJ: Having him racing up the other side of Moss, or even bunched up together, with Brady back at the controls. Yikes.
Nnamdi: Now I know he's gonna be expensive, but we may have learned something by letting Samuel go. We need at least one shut-down corner. We currently don't have that. We have ok corners, but nothing to scare anyone away from passing deep.
Watching any of the Giants RB's is nuts. I doubt Jacobs would ever come here, but I'd have no qualms about cutting Jordan to make the space.
Anyway, the draft should be good and this years draft, big picture-wise, is shaping up pretty good.
Any thoughts on who you'd like to see come along in FA?

Names that caught my eye:
Chris Gamble
Dunta Robinson
Johnathon Vilma
Darren Sproles
Cortland Finnegan (who is RFA and likely going to ask for a big paycheque, so probably not too likely to show up here).
Re: 2009 Free Agents That Could Rock The Flying Elvis?
I don't see TJ Houshmandzadeh being an option. The Pats made no attempt to sign him a few years ago and I don't see them making the move this go around either. Issues with him include an inflated ego, running his mouth and throwing teammates under the bus.
Kerry Rhodes could be a possibility if the Jets don't extend him or franchise him. Nnamdi Asomougha could be a possibility unless the Raiders franchise him again.
I think that Jabari Greer could be an option as well.
Re: 2009 Free Agents That Could Rock The Flying Elvis?
TJ is a good #1 or very good #2. Both those spots are taken on the Patriots. Asomugha will be the best CB FA out there, and he will be overpaid just not on the Patriots. The Giants will not let Jacobs go. He'll either get franchised or receive a NY sized contract.
My list starts off with...
Matt Cassel
Russ Hochstein
James Sanders
Heath Evans
At this point I don't think we will be making big splashes in FA in the next few years. There are some current players (Wilfork) that need extending first. Also, there are a lot of starters whose contracts are up after the 2009 season.

TJ? Hm. I think Chad Johnson fits that descriptor, but I never really saw any offensive behaviour from Hoosh.
I saw Kerry Rhodes there too. That wouldn't be too bad. Might get him in a trade with the Jesters...

If he's an RFA, the issue is not how big a paycheck he's looking for, but rather what tag the T*tans slap on him. If they hit him with the highest tender (1st and 3rd required), he ain't leavin'.

Believe me, it fits Houshmandzadeh as well. I've followed his antics because I liked him when he was a free agent last time and hoped the Pats would sign him and then, when he started running his mouth, I knew he wasn't Pats material. When Johnson was going through his stuff this past off-season Houshmandzadeh threw his jabs in there at Johnson.
