My Mood: Inspired
Thumbs up Remainder of Season is Brighter

OK ... tough loss but there are good things ahead is my gut feel.
JETs game showed me a lot of promise for this young team.
Here are some of my positive thoughts.

1. M.Cassel will continue to improve. He has confidence now and his running ability is a factor teams will have to respect.

2. M.Cassel is using more of his reciving weapons now and is begining to
spread the ball around like TB use to.

3. Morris is almost ready to be full time again. Jordan may follow in next
few weeks. Depth at RB could be great come December.

4. The Oline is coming together real well. Matt had a lot of time against
the JETs for most of the night against a pretty good pass rushing D.
They have some good depth now.

5. The Defense will learn from this game. Woods will get better. PATs may
get some injured back soon (T.Warren( hopefully),Wheatly and L.Sanders)
If PATs get to post season A.Thomas may be back.

6. The run defense is almost very good. Jones only got 3.5 yds/carry, down from over 4+

7. Mayo is awesome and this was his coming out game.

8. PATs pass rush is finding new ways to get it done.

All PATs have to do is get to the Post Seaon.
I thought Steelers and Cards(toughest game left) were going to be losses but
NOW ... I'm sure PATs can beat both these teams if they don't shoot
themselves.

I really think PATs can win OUT!
(I think they will have to for post seaon play)

Agreed with all except point 4. At the 2-minute warning in the first half, the Jets went to a 3-man rush and never really went back. Can't for the life of me figure out why, but they weren't attacking Cassel after that. Now the OLine still did their job because Jenkins is a 2-man rush by himself, but you weren't seeing any blitz packages that really test a line.

And yeah, Mayo is a beast. lock for DROY.

Let them loose. Surprised no threads on the pressure of the defense. Right before the half, BB sent them and it worked. Thought the Jets would make adjustments, but either didn't or the pass rush was too much. Want to see what happens next game, but I liked how the youngsters rushed the qb. Mayo was a beast last night. The silver lining with the injuries is that some of these guys will have to show what they have and learn from it. Meanwhile, on offense Cassell is getting more comfortable. I'm hoping that that throw to Moss at the end of the game gives him added confidence in the red zone. Then all he'll need to do is practice the long throws.

Given all the damage the team has taken, I agree there are plenty of reason to feel positively about the rest of the season. The offense is moving the ball and is showing it can score. The defense is showing it can get the job done, and I will chalk up many of its failings to youth. If Belichick can hold on to any of the rookies this season and avoid injuries, it will get better every week.

On the down side, what looked like a cake schedule at the beginning of the season is not cake anymore. I would be amazed if the Pats lost to the Fish after that first game (consecutive losses have not happened, 10 days to prepare and really ticked off about the home loss). Other than the Seahawks and Faders, the other 4 teams will be tough games. I believe the Pats can do it, but they cannot afford many down games in this playoff hunt (4-2 this season should get it done, but I would not count on it). On the up side, the Titans defense will put a beat down on the Jets offense and will likely make the division a tie for first again after one game, so the pressure will be on the Jets to perform as well.

It will definitely be a fun ride to watch. I like the underdog feel and believe the fact the Pats fought back when down 24-6 speaks volumes of the attitude.

Left out "Guyton" He was on man coverage on leon washington and did a good job. on the other hand keller is a ILB coverage responsbility and some one dropped the ball on that.guyton played both ILB and OLB and generated pressure.

I think sit in the line and let a QB pick you part is just dumb way to play.as soon we got aggresive they shut down the game.we sadly never had a lead and like in indy could not force the QB to some pressure on every completion.

My wife made an excellent point that watson needs to put glue on his hand [ from the move replacements] and try to hold on. man not for his drop he was abeast no one cover him 1 on 1.pace and bowens could not do anything yet he freaking has huge drops.

Mayo had 16 solo tackles and 4 assists. BEAST

So basically, me being a 10-year vet and seeing those other guys out there talking smack, they haven't done nothing yet. So it was a good thing for the offense that Jabar Gaffney came up with a key catch, luckily, for six and, you know, we shut them up, and that was a good thing. I'm not a trash talker. A lot of positives in Cassel, line play, Mayo and Guyton. Improvements and schedule will allow them to win most of the remainin games and maybe make the playoffs. There the inability of the defense to get off the field on thrd down will kill them and they will lose to the Titans, Steelers or some other team with more solid defense. Most of the folks on this board will say it was a good year, and better than you might have expected with all the injuries.
