This is the dare?

"I'm just coming back, haven't played, they call me 'old man.' Hell, throw at me. That's what any smart coach would do. I relish the opportunity and look forward to the challenge."

Someone needs to stop reading into those NY Post headlines.

He did say something in his first statement (Google it - I found it in the Herald but I think it was quoted by Reiss as well). Specifically, "“I know they’re going to throw at me, but I welcome the challenge - bring it,” Law was quoted in the report. “I got the tricks for you.”"

It is only bulletin board material if it is credible. All the stats and rings in the world won't stop Father Time, so I expect the Pats will welcome his addition to the Jets secondary and give him some opportunities to watch receivers run by. I still believe he sees little to no playing time, so the statement really isn't worth getting fired up over.

well let's see.. A wide receiver like Randy Moss who has been thru training camp and played 9 regular season games vs a hold out who hasn't had a training camp nor seen game action in over a year.

I like that match-up

Well, "dare" aside, I don't think this is going to matter much. We're not talking about the Pittsburgh safety (his name just will not come up for me) who talked trash and then got lit up. When you have Tom Brady throwing you can do things like that.

Cassel needs to keep doing what he's been doing, and that's playing smart and making the right throws at the right times. I doubt Law's comments will factor into the gameplan or his tendencies. If they do we deserve to lose.

"playfully talking trash" as the reporter stated, daring the Patriots to throw at him....

If you were there and can state unequivocally that Law wasn't talking trash, please let me know what he said.

I'm unclear why so many are so certain the reporter is lying about this.... or why they feel its smart for Law to be saying ANYTHING of this nature after being on a team for just a few days.

It would be stupid to engage in trash talk if Law had been there for 2 years, let alone 2 days.

Does anyone actually think Mangidiot or anyone else on the team is happy he's engaging in trash talk?

Ty Law is like that ex-girlfriend who you had some great times with a long time ago but who still looks good today, suggests the two of you go out some time, then repeatedly finds excuses why she cannot make the date. It's all about self-esteem, Patjew. Time to move on and realize the Patriots' Ty Law disappeared with the 2004 season and is not coming back.

Or perhaps he realizes he can best contribute to the Patriots by sucking for a hated rival, costing them a few games, and facilitating an early exit before the playoffs, thereby costing the Rat his head coaching position. There may be some Patriots blood in him yet. Only time will tell.
