I am saying but I am not saying.

Doesn't seem to make sense to me why they would fine someone if they are willing to review the appeal themselves and rescind the fine. This is simple they need to have an independent abitrator so that 1) people feel they get an impartial review of their appeal and 2) so the NFL doesn't have to look stupid rescinding its own punishment. I mean you mean to tell me that they couldn't assume Moss was going to appeal and just look into it more in the first place and not give out the fine to begin with.

After reviewing the tape Mr Ray Anderson found that yes there were some real iffy calls out there!

The NFL is posturing so that it can look like a competent and fair arbitrator for the next CBA.

If the NFL were totalitarian in handing out fines then the NFLPA's desire for a 3rd party arbitrator would be a slam dunk. With this, the NFL can say "NO.... YOU DONT NEED ONE OF THOSE! LOOK HOW FAIR WE ARE"

Except it doesn't make any sense to rescind something you handed out in the first place. Next time do a more thorough initial review and make your decision the right one the 1st time. It doesn't make any sense to me that they would say Moss' comments are worthy of a fine but than when he appeals they say it is not. Am I missing something, does his appeal mean that he wasn't critical of the officials, no but the comments probably were not worthy of a fine in the first place so they should have concluded that in the first place.

It was a BS fine.

But the message has still been sent, nothing negative or that can be construed as negative, can be said about the NFL or the officiating.

The fine got everyone's intention, which helped to emphasise the point.

Between that fine and the bogus assault charge, Moss is getting some positive reinforcement for sticking to his guns and seeing due process through ...
