2001 Patriots Offseason:

After one year without Tom Brady, the Patriots find themselves still in search of a quarterback as they look to rebound from a disappointing 7-9 season.

Chris Canty may have been the first nickel back ever taken in the first round. He was a bad pick. He wasn’t the worst.

The Patriots today signed two defensive players off of the free agent wire. LB Bryan Cox, who had been rumored to be coming to New England virtually all offseason, agreed to a contract today. The Pats also agreed to terms with NT Geradie Mercer.

Did any of you catch Bill Belichick sitting in the center of town the other day?

Edwards takes a huge step in his comeback. Edwards has been taken off the physically unable to perform list. Edwards has been cleared to step onto a practice field for the Patriots.

The New England Patriots reportedly signed fifth-round draft choice Hakim Akbar to a two-year contract, making him the first of the Class of 2001 to ink a deal with the team.
