Senior Bowl Day 3: Standouts, Surprises, and NFL Draft Risers

The National Team got hit hard by the injury bug and will have at least 8 players not playing in the game on Saturday.
The Following players were either injured or decided not to participate any longer.
Harrison Wallace WR Mississippi
Romello Brinson WR SMU
Trey Zuhn OT Texas A&M
Logan Fano OT Utah
Scooby Williams LB Texas A&M
Colton Hood CB Texas (opted out)
Wydett Williams, S, Mississippi
Nick Singleto,n ,RB Penn State (hurt in practice)
Melvin Priestly OL Illinois
Ceyair Wright CB Nebraska (played in East – West Shrine game)
Tanner Koziol, TE, Houston – he has stood out amongst TEs all week. Not only for his size (6’7”), but also for his route running and soft hands. The Patriots need a TE. He is not an inline blocker, but it’s hard to not be impressed with the big Red Zone target.
Vinnie Anthony, WR, Wisconsin – he had a very good day on Thursday
Lee Hunter, DT, Texas Tech – he was the best player on the field all week. Dominated in the trenches.
Bryce Boettcher, LB, Oregon – he is a player that caught my eye early on Day One, and he has sustained that level of play all week. He also showed he can be good in coverage.
TJ Parker, EDGE, Clemson – Dominated in the pass rush drills
Max Llewellyn, EDGE, Iowa – He was mentioned in the same breath as Parker and might be better at setting the edge.
Bud Clark, S, TCU – Another with multiple reports mentioning his outstanding play. Clark had an Interception on a deep pass, drifting over from Free Safety, and high-pointing the ball.
Jacob Rodriquez, LB, Texas Tech, was the best LB on the field and showed his high Football IQ.
Kyle Louis, LB, Pitt – he had a really good week, especially in pass coverage. One reporter had the ultimate compliment. “Louis made himself a lot of money this week”, indicating that he is moving on up the draft boards.
Adam Randall, RB, Clemson – He is a converted wide receiver who moved to RB this year. The 6’2” 238-pound big back had 168 carries for 814 yards, 4.8 YPC, and 10 TDs. Receiving, he added 36 catches for 254 yards, 7.6 YPC, and 3 TDs. His projected 40-time is 4.59 e (from NFL Draft Scout). However, reports from Mobile said he was the fastest RB per Zebra Technologies. If, in fact, he can run a good 40-time at his Pro Day workout, he will jump up the draft board. He also has big hands at 9 5/8 “. His primary position is listed as FB.
It was too good to continue; the American Team lost one player, Aaron Andersson, WR, LSU. He was in street clothes, watching the practice.
Taylen Green, QB, Arkansas, had another bad day. His footwork is a mess, and he just doesn’t look comfortable in the pocket. That is good news for me, because I want to make him switch positions to either WR or TE.
Lewis Bond was highlighted again, and the writer said that he had clean routes all week.
Garrett Nussmeier, QB, LSU – He is the best QB of all QBs here in Mobile. I just don’t think he is very good and the overall Draft Class of QBs is very poor.
Barrios Brown, WR, LSU, has been mentioned multiple times on multiple days by numerous reporters. He didn’t have a great year at LSU, but that may be more a factor of the coach (Brian Kelly) and the QB (Nussmeier).
Rahul Faison, RB, South Carolina – He will not be drafted because of his age. He turns 26 in a few weeks. However, reports have him as one of the fastest RBs in Mobile, and he possesses soft hands out of the backfield.
Jaydyn Ott, RB, Oklahoma, was very impressive in pass blocking drills this week. This is a skill that has been overlooked by college coaches who fire the ball out quickly in these spread offenses. A perfect example is Patriots rookie TreVeyon Henderson only getting 4 carries last week in the AFC Championship. When drafted, he was supposed to be a good pass blocker coming out of college. He has been so bad that he was benched, and Rhamondre Stevenson played the majority of plays.
Kaelon Black, RB, Indiana – he was not known for his pass-catching ability at Indiana, because that was not part of their offense. He has shown good route running with soft hands, and he find the open space quickly.
These are players who have been identified for their overall play this week.
Tanner Koziol, T,E Houston. His 6’6″ size in the red zone is impressive
Chandler Rivers, CB, Duke. He had a nice pass breakup against Ty Montgomery in Endzone
Caullin Lacy, WR, Louisville – Impressive numbers in college. Broke the ankles of the DB in a quick change of direction for a score
Kyle Louis LB Pitt – Forced Fumble with a big hit and an INT running the route for the RB, cut inside and took it to the house
Jacob Rodriquez – he does everything well.
Kyle Louis – another mention of Louis
Kyle Louis – he has a Safety body and covers like one.
Caleb Banks, DT, Florida – Up and down on Day one, but dominated on Days 2 and 3.
Thadeus Dixon, CB, North Carolina – he wasn’t good on Day one and two, getting mossed several times. However, he bounced back on Day three with an Interception
Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State – Iheanachor is going to be a big riser due to his athleticism, and the fact that he was late to playing the game of football. Offensive tackle is one of the weaker positions in this class, meaning teams will likely try to reach on a player or two.
Jacob Rodriquez
Kyle Louis
Bud Clark
Max Llewellyn EDGE Iowa – spin move that put him right in quarterback Sawyer Robertson’s lap, forcing an errant throw.
Thadddeus Dixon
Skyler Thomas, DB, Oregon State – INTs two days in a row, yesterday off Taylen Green.
Tanner Koziol
Sam Roush TE Stanford
Josh Cuevas, TE Alabama – Had a TD catch
Dan Villiari, TE, Syracuse – Had a TD catch
I will have the Practice Players of the Week tomorrow. These selections are made by the players they played against all week.
