Rookie left tackle Will Campbell has been someone who had become a pivotal part of New England’s resurgence on offense this season, which had seen his team pile up a surprising 9-2 record heading into Sunday’s match-up against the Bengals.
Now, it looks like the Patriots might be without him for the foreseeable future.
Campbell suffered a knee injury in the third quarter on Sunday with just under 5 minutes remaining on a 4-yard run by TreVeyon Henderson.
The former LSU standout immediately took his helmet off and was visibly upset, with cameras showing him a few minutes after emerging from the blue medical tent with a towel on his head as he was carted back to the locker room.
Campbell was then replaced by Vederian Lowe, who stepped in during his absence.
The rookie left tackle was the second player on that side of the line to suffer an injury Sunday, with left guard Jared Wilson also suffering an apparent ankle injury earlier in the contest that also saw him leave the line-up. Wilson was replaced by Ben Brown.
On the other side, veteran Morgan Moses also missed time with an apparent illness, with Marcus Bryant stepping in before the veteran made his way back onto the field.
The Patriots will fortunately have an extra day to try and figure things out before their next game, with a visit by the Giants up next on Monday Night Football on December 1st at Gillette Stadium.
