If anyone in New England was worried about a crazy scenario where the Patriots could end up facing Tom Brady again and as early as next weekend, it sounds like that – thankfully – won’t be an option.

With the New York Jets still reeling from losing Aaron Rodgers on opening night, it sounds like they’re still exploring their options at quarterback.

While Zach Wilson appears to be the guy for now, the obvious question was whether or not New York would make a full-court press to lure Brady out of retirement.

That would have been a nightmare scenario for most Patriots fans who would never want to see him playing for the Jets, of all teams.

Fortunately, that door appears to be closed.  The Jets have reportedly said they’re not pursuing Brady.  Not that it probably matters, since Brady has also made it clear he’s happy with where he’s at.

Brady, who was on hand in Foxboro being honored during halftime at Gillette Stadium this past weekend, has been spending most of his time as of late with his children.  Prior to his visit this weekend, he’s posted numerous photos of himself with his kids, which included a visit to take in some Tennis last week with them at the U.S. Open.

Up to this point, Brady seems to be happy with being retired, and football appears to be firmly in the rearview.

As to who the Patriots may face later this season under center when they face the Jets, that remains to be seen.  CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson listed off some possible names on Wednesday from Cam Newton, Nick Foles, and Colt McCoy among players who the Jets could look into if they’re unhappy with Wilson.

Anderson believes McCoy would be the best option, although he was recovering from an elbow injury at the end of training camp, and the fact he’s still available certainly isn’t promising.

Either way, it changes things for when these two teams do face off against each other, which will happen for the first time in 2023 one week from Sunday as the Jets are up next down at MetLife Stadium following this weekend’s battle with Miami.
