Former New England Patriots linebacker and current linebacking coach Jerod Mayo is wrapping up his eleventh season with the franchise.
A first-round draft pick by the Patriots in 2008 out of the University of Tennessee, Mayo played eight seasons in Foxborough, earning two Pro Bowl awards, defensive rookie of the year honors, a place on the Patriots All 2010’s Team, and Super Bowl title in 2014.
In February 2016, Mayo announced his retirement from football after dealing with multiple season-ending injuries over his final three years.
Since retiring, Mayo has put together a successful second career as the inside linebackers coach for the Patriots since 2019.
Check out Mayo’s football journey from playing to coaching in the latest episode of the Patriots “Do Your Life” mini-documentary series.
