On Saturday, it was announced that NFL coach and general manager Floyd Reese had passed away at the age of 73.
Although he spent over two decades in a variety of roles across the NFL, Reese was probably best known for his success as the general manager of the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans franchise from 1994-2006 where he helped build the team into Super Bowl contenders.
During his Titans tenure, Reese was responsible for drafting the likes of Steve McNair, Eddie George, and Derrick Mason among others.
Following his resignation from the franchise after the 2006 season, Reese finished his GM career with a 106-102 regular season record and a 5-4 record in the postseason. His 111 total wins are the most of any Oilers/Titans GM and to date assembled the only AFC Championship team in franchise history.
From 2009-2012, Reese concluded his NFL career as a senior football advisor for the New England Patriots
Head coach Bill Belichick later issued the following statement Saturday evening.
