On Thursday, New England Patriots safety Patrick Chung formally announced his retirement from professional football in a posting to his Instagram.
An 11-year NFL veteran who spent 10 of those seasons as a Patriot (one in Philadelphia), Chung walks away from the NFL as a three-time Super Bowl champion.
Chung wrote a lengthy message thanking the Patriots organization and fans for all their support.
Numerous current and former teammates of Chung shared congratulatory well wishes over their Instagram stories following word of his retirement.

During his NFL career, Chung logged 773 total tackles, 56 pass deflections and 11 interceptions. He was also named a member of the Patriots 2010’s All Decade Team in 2020.
