Although Rob Gronkowski is busy celebrating a Super Bowl championship on a boat in Florida Wednesday, his literal lasting impact on the New England Patriots most recent title will never be forgotten following the now-famous accidental dent he put in the teams Super Bowl LIII Lombardi trophy two springs ago.
Gronkowski used the trophy to bunt a baseball while himself and Edelman were waiting to throw out the first pitch at Fenway Park during the Boston Red Sox’ 2019 season opener.
At the time, Gronkowski took full responsibility for the damage and the Patriots decided to keep the trophy as is for a funny reminder.
However, since winning his fourth Super Bowl, Gronkowski apparently has had enough of people blaming him entirely for the damage.
Speaking on “NFL Total Access” from Disney World on Monday, Gronkowski decided to shift all blame to Julian Edelman for “encouraging him” to use the trophy as a bat.
Edelman later responded to Gronk’s comments over Twitter, simply saying “*allegedly*”.

While Edelman’s peer pressure may be a valid argument, it appears the Buccaneers aren’t taking any chances with Gronkowski and their trophy quite yet.
Gronkowski told the ESPN on Monday that “I haven’t even touched the Lombardi Trophy yet, I’m not sure if it’s for a reason, if the Buccaneers organization is trying to keep it away from me, but it would be pretty cool just to even see it. I just saw it from about 30 yards away yesterday, but I have not touched it yet, and hopefully, I get to soon.”
No word as of Wednesday whether or not Gronkowski was finally trusted with his fourth trophy at the Buccaneers championship parade.
