Former NFL tight end Martellus Bennett wasn’t a Patriot for very long, but the impact of his time in Foxborough continues to help him in life post football.

Over social media this week, Bennett took some time to reflect back on his 2016 season with the Patriots when he contributed to their fifth Super Bowl championship, comparing the team to operating his current business “The Imagination Agency”.

“I rarely watch or think about football, until the Super Bowl comes around,” Bennet said on Instagram. “Although winning the Super Bowl didn’t make me feel the way it made others feel when we won, I still have an understanding of how monumental winning that shit was in the domain I was operating in at the time. This is my first time wearing the ring since I got it 4 years ago. Lol. I just wanted to stunt. As I’m building my new company I always think about the championship team and what it took to win a championship. I’m building a studio built on the team the team the team philosophy. Team is more important. No one is more important than the studio. As well as do your job motto. When the studio wins we all win. My championships look different now but we still winning.”

Bennett shared two photographs of himself wearing his Super Bowl ring, one of which is very NSFW.

“Shout out to all my homies with great career stats but no rings but no Super Bowl rings. This one’s for you!” Bennett wrote in the second post.

Originally the second tight end on the depth chart in 2016, Bennett found himself in the starting role following a season ending injury to Rob Gronkowski.

In 16 regular season games, he recorded 55 receptions for 701 yards and a career-high seven touchdowns.

During the postseason run to the Super Bowl LI championship, Bennett caught 14 receptions for 125 yards, with five for 62 yards occurring against the Atlanta Falcons, he almost nearly won the Super Bowl in overtime before James White’s score.

Bennett retired from the NFL in 2018 and now operates a successful media company and is a children’s book author.
