On Twitter Friday, the New England Patriots released a teaser trailer for an upcoming behind-the-scenes look into the work of one of the most mysterious but well-known members of the franchise, Director of Football Research, Ernie Adams.
The exact role Adams has with the team has remained largely unknown during Belichick’s tenure as head coach.
Before Belichick’s hiring in New England, Adams also worked for him in Cleveland with the Browns and New York Giants.
Throughout his NFL career, Adams has maintained a relatively low profile with each stop hes made.
At one time, Browns owner Art Modell asked “I’ll pay anyone here $10,000 if they can tell me what Ernie Adams does?”
Back in April, former Patriots VP of Player Personnel Scott Pioli briefly discussed the impact Adams has on the team.
“He would identify a lot of things,” Pioli said. “I’m not going to get into — that’s part of the Patriots thing, you’ve got a cone of silence. I will say this: Ernie did a lot and does a lot, and he does it as well as anybody that I’ve ever been around.
“He’s involved in game-planning, he’s involved in personnel,” Pioli continued. “He looks at things from a different perspective where he doesn’t sit in meeting rooms with individual players where he’ll end up getting distracted by certain emotional components and relationships with players. He looks at things with a very clean way.”
Will the curtain on Adams finally be pulled back this upcoming Sunday when the documentary premieres? Take a look at the preview below.
