In the first quarter, the Cardinals got off to a fast start, taking a 10-0 lead thanks to a Kenyan Drake rushing touchdown and Zane Gonzalez 47 Yd Field Goal.

Needing a spark, newly signed wide receiver Donte Moncrief set the Patriots offense up with a short field to close out the quarter after breaking multiple tackles for a 53-yard kick return.

The kick helped setup a James White touchdown to give the Patriots their first points of the game early in the second quarter.

Sometimes the best things you discover when reviewing the game aren’t Xs and Os, but more about the human spirit and emotion.

After James White scored his first TD, he kissed his right hand, raised his arm, and looked to the sky.

Clinging to a three point lead with the clock winding down on the first half, it appeared the Cardinals were in position to go up 14.

The Patriots defense had other ideas.

On top of all the disruption he had in the backfield, Adam Butler also made this sneaky-big play today. Helped stop KeeSean Johnson just short of the goal line after dropping back in coverage. Patriots had their fourth-down goal-line stand one play later. pic.twitter.com/8RjyRj8fN1

— Zack Cox (@zm_cox) November 30, 2020

Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury elected to go for it on fourth down at the goal line.

The Patriots defense held.

Entering halftime, despite the offensive struggles, the defense kept the Patriots right in the game and trailing by just three.

As the third quarter opened up, Patriots defensive tackle Adam Butler continued to have a dominant day.

#Patriots film: more Adam Butler love. On this TFL, he recognizes the outside zone step from the OL and uses a swim move to back door the LG and make the play. Can be risky to go backdoor, but Butler's range as a tackler allows him to get away with it. Baller. pic.twitter.com/KVJjpVvu5l

— Evan Lazar (@ezlazar) November 30, 2020

After forcing a Cardinals punt, the Patriots capitalized on the ensuing drive and tied the game at ten.

With six and a half to go in the third quarter, the Patriots defense stepped up and forced a Kyler Murray interception on a tipped pass.

https://twitter.com/Patriots/status/1333144342966439948?s=20

The Patriots offense cashed in on the turnover as James White found the end zone for a second time and gave the home team its first lead of the day.

17-10 Patriots through three quarters.

https://twitter.com/Patriots/status/1333141543084036096?s=20

From @ESPNStatsInfo: After not scoring over the first 10 weeks of the season, James White has his 3rd career game (including playoffs) with multiple rushing TDs (2018 vs Packers; Super Bowl LI vs Falcons)

— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) November 29, 2020

The Patriots were a yard away from potentially going down 21-7 in this game.

Instead – despite a bad penalty taking a touchdown off the board – they're now up 17-10

That's Adam Butler's first sack of the season, and the 12th of his career.

— Alex Barth (@RealAlexBarth) November 29, 2020

The Cardinals began the fourth quarter needing a response.

A Kenyan Drake touchdown for the second time tied the game at 17 all.

With two minutes to go in the game, it appeared the Cardinals were about to take the lead back, but Zane Gonzalez miss from 45 yards gave the Patriots a chance to win it.

BIG HIT! Newton gets the 1st down with his legs, and gets hit hard after the play. Scuffle breaks out on the field. #GoPats #PatsNation pic.twitter.com/67DreneTn3

A Nick Folk 50 yard field goal gave the Patriots their second last second victory of the season as the team moves to 5-6 on the season before heading out west to play the Chargers next Sunday.

— Mike Giardi (@MikeGiardi) November 29, 2020

From @ESPNStatsInfo: New England closed as a 1-point underdog and improves to 12-5 (.706) as home underdogs under Bill Belichick, including playoffs. The next-highest win pct as home underdogs since 2000 belongs to Pittsburgh at .545.

— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) November 29, 2020

Also, from @EliasSports: It is the first time just two Patriots had +1 receiving yards in a non-strike game since 12/4/1983 vs. the Saints — when the Patriots won 7-0 in a game with snow/sleet and 20 mph winds. The Patriots completed 3 passes for 30 yards, all to Stanley Morgan.
