Jeannette Belichick, mother of New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, passed away Monday night due to natural causes, the news was first reported by Jim McBride of the Boston Globe. She was 98 years old.
Belichick cancelled his scheduled Wednesday morning press conference with reporters in wake of the news, but was at practice this afternoon.
Back in 2015, Belichick donated to Hiram College in Ohio, the school where his parents first met while working there. His gift helped establish the Coach Steve Belichick Olympic Training Center and the Jeannette Munn Belichick Reading Room in the school library.
When Steve Belichick was hired at the Naval Academy in the 1950’s, the couple moved to Annapolis, Maryland where they had and raised Bill, their only child, and where Jeannette spent the remainder of her life until her death.
In 2005, her husband Steve Belichick passed away at the age of 85.
Jeannette is survived by her son Bill, grandchildren Steve, Brian and Amanda, and two great-grandchildren.
