It appears Rob Gronkowski is finalizing his new career post-football.

On Tuesday, Ryan Satin of FS1’s “WWE Backstage” program shared a report that Gronkowski is close to finalizing a deal with WWE.

The rumors of a Gronk jump to the WWE have been circulating for a few years, he previously worked with the wrestling giant in an appearance at WrestleMania 33 in 2017 and is close friends with wrestler Mojo Rawley.

This past August, Gronkowski spoke about his WWE interest, but did not view himself as becoming a full time wrestler.

“With wrestling, I don’t feel like I would be a full-time wrestler, but there is one thing I’m down for,” Gronkowski said. “And that’s to do one crazy match. Practice it for a little bit, go out there — like in a Royal Rumble — go out there, I got my friend in WWE [Rawley], practice it and do a full-on WWE match. I’m not saying when, maybe five years. I got the rest of my life to do that. I’ve always dreamed about doing that, just one time, going in there and going full-out. That may be a possibility, one time, down the road.”

WWE executives Paul “Triple H” Levesque and Stephanie McMahon, as well as Rawley made an appearance at Gronk’s Super Bowl beach party back in February.

A Triple H tweet from the event referenced WWE’s “Summerslam” taking place in Boston this summer.

As of this time it is unknown what Gronk’s role will be but it appears any lingering chances of an NFL return are gone for good.
