“It’s a great honor. It’s a blessing. It’s a lot of hard work,” Gilmore said. “Obviously, I couldn’t have done it without my teammates, but to be the first player in Patriots history to win Defensive Player of the Year, it’s a great honor.”

It’s an honor to win Defensive Player of the Year! I couldn’t have done this without all the endless support that I’ve received all year from my family, my teammates and the entire @patriots organization. Thank you to the fans who have followed my NFL journey and have stuck with me through the good and the bad. I’m humbled and forever grateful. There’s still a lot of work to do and I can’t wait for next season! #DPOY #earnednotgiven
