Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon found himself star struck after Sunday’s game against the Patriots.

Following the post game handshakes, Mixon tweeted out his reaction to meeting Brady for the very first time and a special request he “was too scared to ask” for.

Brady, a frequent “tweeter” these days, caught wind of Mixon’s request for a jersey the following day and made sure it would happen.

“Great game Joe, I’ll send a jersey your way!” Brady replied.

Mixon couldn’t contain his excitement following Brady’s response.

Brady shared some more details from their jersey exchange on WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show” Monday”.

“I’m gonna send him one, because I saw that last night,” Brady said  “That was pretty cool.”

Brady witnessed Mixon’s talent first hand during Sunday’s Game, he ran for 136 rushing yards on 25 carries against the Patriots defense.

Mixon is 75 yards short of his second consecutive 1,000 yard season, he has 745 total yards in his last six games.

Brady also understood where Mixon was coming from when it comes to meeting veteran players for the first time.

“I feel the same way about so many of these young players that inspire me,” Brady said. “I mean, that guy is one of the great running backs in the league.”

When it comes to seeking him out or exchanging jerseys, its become old hat for Brady.

“I understand kind of how it goes,” Brady said. “You see these guys playing on TV and then you meet them, and it’s surreal.

“I’ve been around Joe Montana and Steve Young and Jerry Rice and Brett Favre, some of the greats, and I feel the same way about them. So, it’s just part of our nature.

“The NFL has a camaraderie, and for as hard as we play and as violent as the game is, there’s a lot of respect that you really find in contact sports, because you realize the level of commitment and dedication that it takes.”

The praise for Mixon didn’t stop with Brady, head coach Bill Belichick also shared complementary words for the running back after the game.

Maybe Mixon will one day become the next Bengals running back to play for New England?
