For the first time since being reinstated to the NFL, New England Patriots wide receiver Josh issued a Twitter statement to explain his absence and his outlook and expectations for the future.

Gordon was suspended indefinitely by the NFL following the Patriots week 15 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy.

In 11 starts for New England in 2018, Gordon hauled in 40 receptions for 720 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

The Patriots went on to win Super Bowl LIII without his services.

Gordon worked out privately with quarterback Tom Brady during the offseason.

On August 16th, 2019 Gordon was conditionally reinstated and saw action in the Patriots preseason finale against the New York Giants.

Since starting all 16 games his rookie season with the Cleveland Browns, Gordon has played in 12 or more just three times in the last six years.

Gordon missed the entirety of the 2015 and 2016 seasons from suspensions with Cleveland.

In 2019, it appears Gordon is going to do whatever it takes to leave the past in the past.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick had some complementary words for Gordon during his Friday press conference.

“Josh has worked hard,” Belichick said during Friday’s press conference. “He’s created an opportunity for himself. But I’m excited for our entire team. Everybody’s worked hard, put a lot into it. It’s time to start playing. It’s time to see where we’re at. “This is what you put in all that time in the offseason (for). Training camp and OTAs and all the other things that go into it — this is what it’s for: starting regular-season games. So I think we’re all ready to go — or will be Sunday.”

Later on Friday, Gordon shared a 2019 season hype video to his Instagram account.
