It’s been nearly 18 years since former New England Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe was a key figure in the local sports scene, but over the past two weeks, Bledsoe gained some newfound Boston attention from a very unlikely source, Terry Rozier and the Celtics playoff run.

To set the stage, in Game 1 of the Celtics first round matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks, C’s point guard Rozier called Bucks guard Eric Bledsoe “Drew”, either by accident or a little subtle trash talk after the teams Game 1 victory.

In response, the Bucks Bledsoe claimed he had no idea who Rozier even was after the Bucks tied the series in Game 2.

The Patriots meanwhile, saw the war of words as a perfect way to troll the Milwaukee Bucks while also showing some support for the local basketball team. The series was a tight back and forth that resulted in a Game 7 in Boston.

Fast forward to Saturday, the Celtics took the trolling a step further by inviting the actual Drew Bledsoe to share a pump up video during the fourth quarter of Game 7.

“That was special. That was dope,” Rozier said after the Celtics 112-96 game seven clinching victory. “I don’t know who thought of that, but that was nice.”

So at least for one series, Drew Bledsoe had some of the sports spotlight shined back on him and he didn’t disappoint. Helping provide one of the funniest and random Boston sports collaborations of recent memory.
