As the New England Patriots continue to battle through injury issues at the wide receiver position, second year receiver Malcolm Mitchell, who has missed all of 2017 dealing with rehab from a foot injury, appears to be on track to come off injured reserve soon following his latest Instagram post where he’s “missing that feeling.”

According to a report Tuesday from ESPN Boston’s Mike Reiss, Mitchell “is scheduled to be evaluated this week and is “getting better, for sure,” according to someone close to him and familiar with his progress. Whether that progress results in him being the player designated to return from IR will ultimately be up to the team.”
Mitchell could become much needed depth reinforcement down the stretch and into the playoffs for the Patriots, as both Danny Amendola and Chris Hogan have missed time and Julian Edelman won’t be back until next season. In his 2016 rookie campaign, Mitchell had 32 receptions for 401 yards in 14 games.
