New England Patriots linebacker Dont’a Hightower has been named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for week six following the teams 35-17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
The award marks the first time in Hightower’s career he has received a weekly honor and the first Patriot on defense to do so since Chandler Jones during week two in 2014. Hightower had a monster game for the Patriots, recording 14 total tackles and 1.5 sacks, one of which resulted in a safety for the second consecutive week by the defense.

Hightower became the fifth Patriot to earn an AFC award in 2016, joining special teamer’s Stephen Gostkowski and Ryan Allen, along with Tom Brady and LeGarrette Blount, the latter a monthly honor.
