Report: Dion Lewis’ ACL Tear Recovery Has Been “Encouraging”
HOME > Patriots Blog > Patriots Commentary
In a story first reported by ESPN Boston’s Mike Reiss on Saturday, February 20th, Dr. James Andrews who performed Lewis’ ACL surgery back on November 18th, told Lewis in January during a routine check in that “the feeling was that things were exactly where they should be, if not better” per Reiss.
The Patriots struggled mightily in the backfield during the AFC Championship game, with his replacement James White unable to haul in several Tom Brady targets in the fourth quarter. One would have to wonder how much of a difference Lewis might have made had he been available.
In the meantime, The Patriots intend on taking it very slow this offseason, with Lewis on target to return for the regular season opener in September. The recovery process will take time, but hopefully a fully healthy Lewis can return as the dynamic weapon he once was when the 2015 season began.
