Seeing Julian Edelman leave Sunday’s game against the Giants was disappointing but the news after the game is even a little more gut-wrenching as the Patriots head into the final seven games of the season.

Now it seems like the next time fans might see Edelman might not be until Januaray after a report from Mike Garafolo that the receiver suffered a fracture in his foot, which will likely sideline him for the foreseeable future.

NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport confirmed the report, but reported that Edelman could return by the end of the season.

For now the likely scenario will include a larger workload for Danny Amendola, who came up big during the closing minutes of Sunday’s game, including a key fourth down reception that helped extend the Patriots game-winning drive.  But it’s definitely quite a blow to an offense that was starting to get healthy at the skill positions while still dealing with injuries on the offensive line.

For now Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said after the game they’ll just have to keep finding ways to keep winning football games.

“We’ve got to find different ways [to win],” said Brady.  “You know and guys stepped in there when Julian [Edelman] got hurt and we were down a bunch of tackles, guys are playing out of position, and I just think we keep grinding our way through it and you’ve gotta find different ways to win.”
