Tom Brady’s assault on the NFL record books continued on Sunday after the veteran quarterback accomplished another milestone during the Patriots’ win over the Jaguars.
Brady threw his 400th career touchdown pass on Sunday, which came on a 1-yard strike to Danny Amendola in the closing seconds of the first half.
He threw two on the afternoon, with his total now sitting at 401 for his career heading into the bye week. His second came on a pass to Keshawn Martin with 3:18 to go in the 3rd quarter, which, at the time, put the Patriots up 37-10.
Overall Brady finished the afternoon 33-of-42 for 358 yards along with two touchdowns, which was also the 66th time Brady has thrown for 300 yards in a contest, the third most all-time.
“It was a good day, so it was fun to be out there,” Brady said after the game when asked about his accomplishment. “I think everyone enjoyed it. It was a good performance by our offense, good team win. It was a good week of practice, a lot of guys made plays so it was great day out there for football.”
Brady was asked if he wishes the bye wasn’t this week considering how well they’re playing, but he also acknowledged that they have a long stretch ahead and now it’s important to try and take advantage of it to evaluate and be ready to finish strong.
“I think you take [the bye week] whenever they are and, you know, I think we’ve had a good 3 weeks,” said Brady. “After this week we’ve got a long stretch ahead. so just try to take advantage of it and use the time as we always do to evaluate where we’re at and try to get ahead on some other things and try to get ready for a team like Dallas that we haven’t played in a long time.”
