In a statement released by the team on Monday, Miami Dolphins cornerback Patrick Surtain underwent successful surgery Monday to stabilize a fracture of the proximal phalanx of his left fifth finger (his pinkie finger). Surtain sustained the injury in Sunday’s game against San Francisco at 3Com Park.

Dolphins chief team physician Dr. George Caldwell and Dr. Brian Fingado, a hand specialist, performed the surgery at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale.

Surtain will most likely be listed as “questionable” in regards to his status for this Saturday’s game against the Patriots in New England.

Meanwhile in other news Dolphins head coach Dave Wannstedt told reporters that offensive guard Todd Perry is still battling a sore right knee but expects him to be in the line-up. “He just re-aggravated it a little bit [in Sunday’s Game against the 49ers],” Wannstedt told reporters on Monday. “We’ll give him a little bit of rest and he’ll play this week.”

He also mentioned that wide receiver Oronde Gadsden “got banged and his hamstring was sore.” Gadsden reportedly got treatment on Monday but his status for Sunday’s game has yet to be determined.
