ESPN.com reports that New England Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe was taken to a local hospital on Sunday night for observation following a devastating hit he took from Jets linebacker Mo Lewis during the fourth quarter against the Jets on Sunday. Bledsoe was later replaced by 2nd-year quarterback Tom Brady who finished the game.

Bledsoe has been one of the NFL’s more durable quarterbacks and has played in 124 out of 130 possible games during his 9-year career. The team did not say whether he had a concussion, or if he would be ready to play next Sunday against Indianapolis.

Before leaving the game, Bledsoe completed 18 of 28 passes for 159 yards. He threw two interceptions and was sacked once.
