Adam Schefter reports that the New England Patriots are trading Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Patriots will reportedly receive a 6th-round pick for the 15th overall selection out of Alabama in 2021, with Jones now headed back to his hometown to back up Trevor Lawrence with the Jaguars.

According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, teams have been inquiring about New England on Mac Jones, with a "fresh start" becoming more likely for the former first-round pick.

After being reported as one of the few players present at Gillette Stadium, reporter Mike Giardi revealed that Mac Jones has been throwing passes to Tyquan Thornton and Mike Gesicki, who were both among receivers at Gillette Stadium getting some work in thus far this offseason.

According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, tensions apparently remain high between head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Mac Jones, with Belichick reportedly having shopped the third-year signal caller this offseason. While Florio didn't know the exact destinations, he was told that the teams mentioned as potential destinations were the Raiders, Texans, Buccaneers, and Commanders.

Bill Belichick spoke with the media on Monday for the first time since the end of the season and was noncommittal with Mac Jones, saying, "we'll play the best player" when asked about Jones' status heading into 2023.
