Am I imagining it, or is there a VERY consistent trend of DL joining the Pats, starting out getting most of their play at NT, and then switching their focus to DE?
Arguably, this trajectory was traveled by each of:
Richard Seymour
Ty Warren
Jarvis Green
Mike Wright
LeKevin Smith
True, it's not REALLY that clearcut. Seymour played more in a 4-3. Warren's play inside was clearly due to injury. Etc. But that's how it seems to keep working out.
And it fits my with my theory that in Bill Belichick's dream world, his roster of 53 would including approximately 15 DEs, 10 safeties, and at least 5 tight ends.
