I disagree.
The correct answer is "Hell, yes."
This is a starting CB in a SB win who is an asset on STs also. Team is woefully thin at this position. I want Gay on the team.:rocker:

Yes Gay is a younger Poole
Proven to be injury prone.
Gay had one good year and couldn't get on the field for 2 years afterwards.
I'll take the 2nd rounder, thanks.
A very valid observation. Fans always think draft picks are always able to produce the golden child instead a mess of pond scum...
Randy gay is a good PROVEN player. Most second round draft picks are hoping to be good enough to be capable of starting in the Superbowl. I got news for you, Gay did, D-I-D, did !
Point is, don't judge a player based only on his injury history. You have to consider his ability to play football.
I believe it was Bill Parcells who said that the most important ability a football player could have is durability. If a guy can't get on the field, he isn't worth anything.
And yes, I also believe it is a huge mistake if the Pats do not insure themselves against Rodney Harrison and Tedy Bruschi being hurt in 2007 by adding quality depth at those spots.
Gay is probably going to be in a training camp roster battle with some street free agents and a draft pick or two. To get a #2 pick for him would be highway robbery.
Randall Gay is NE's best shot at quality depth at the CB position, period.
